 Within 11 acres of landscaped grounds located on the open expanse of the Dartmoor National Park at Haytor. Lashings of pure country air is guaranteed huge dark night skies oceans of adventurous walking a big dollop of epic weather and wild ponies resting inquisitively at the gate. Infinite views spread out before you from every room - sea moor or Tor. Tinpickle and Rhum is the homely informal brasserie with a warm heart (log fire) and sense of humour. 2016 marks the centenary of Agatha Christie arriving here for two weeks to write her very first novel The Mysterious Affair at Styles. I booked myself a room in the Moorland Hotel at HayTor. I think I learnt to love the moor in those days. I loved the Tors and the heather and all the wild part of it away from the roads . Whilst the en-suite rooms won t win prizes for contemporary styling they are clean and extremely good value. Dogs and horses very welcome. 10 minutes from the A38 and Bovey Tracey.
