The noble Kirby Castle at one time possessed another tower which was demolished in the 18th century and the bricks used elsewhere in the village noticeably in the repair of the Castle farmhouse of further adding to its character and historical charm.Kirby Castle is now over 500 years old and is one of the last fortified houses (being a castle only by name). When the estate came up for sale in 1918 a farming tradition that stretched back centuries was coming to an end. From the South The Castle Hotel can be found just off Jn 21A of the M1. Follow signs to Kirby Muxloe. At the first roundabout in the village turn left into Main Street and we are 100 metres on the left.From the North The Castle Hotel can be found off Jn 21 of the M1. Take the right hand loop and return north bound to Jn 21A then follow signs to Kirby Muxloe.
