le chardon restaurant
Prices at le chardon restaurant east dulwich from £6.95 In the early 1900’s, before supermarkets, the closest to a supermarket was David Greig. A local lad, David Greig opened his first shop in Atlantic Road, Brixton in 1888 when he was just 23, and eventually created the biggest grocery chain in the county. The original David Greig in about 1900 at Loughborough Junction, Coldharbour Lane, Bri (pic: R J Harley Coll.) “Le Chardon”, so-called because of the original Victorian thistle tiles, is pleased to keep history alive with many authentic features. Robert Benyayer, owner of Le Chardon, first came to London in 1984 from Cannes in the south of France. Shops and restaurants ran in the family. With years of chef experience in Cannes and catering in the French army, Robert came to London to work at the Claridges Hotel. After 18 months at Claridges, travelling around the world and 10 years working in many other establishments, Robert took the plunge to open his own place. Le Chardon opened in 1997 and has enjoyed its reputation for authentic French food, style and taste. Then along came Au Ciel, a charming café/chocolaterie with exquisite patisserie, in Dulwich Village. The latest restaurant is Le Chardon Brasserie, 32 Abbeville Road, Clapham.
