The Bowes Museum Barnard Castle, founded over 100 years ago by John and Joséphine Bowes, is built in the style of a French château but sits in the very English countryside of County Durham. Their shared love of art led to the creation of this world-class museum, containing the greatest collections of European fine and decorative arts in the North of England. These collections are on display in some stunning new galleries including, The Fashion & Textile Gallery and The British Decorative Arts Gallery, both opening this spring. With a number of entertaining interactives and a programme of exhibitions it is a great day out for all the family.
