Dunsley Hall Country House Hotel Whitby was built as a dream house for the Pyman shipping family in the Victorian period. Oak panelling, an original stained glass window, an Inglenook fireplace, books, memorabilia, open fires and welcoming Yorkshire hospitality are the hallmark of this independent and family-run hotel. Each of the 26 bedrooms is individually furnished, some with four poster-beds and the restaurant serves an award-winning menu where seafood is a speciality. Pymans Bar provides light alternatives and all menus favour local produce. The drawing room is for relaxation, reading, parlour games and a place for after dinner coffee. Banquets and celebration events can be arranged in either the Oak Room or Terrace suite. The hotel holds a civil license for wedding ceremonies and receptions. The grounds include a nine-hole putting course, croquet lawn and hard surface tennis court. Marquees can be arranged for weddings and other outdoor events. Business meetings, for up to 100 delegates are held in the Terrace Suite plus there is a 40 acre area on heather moorland at Ramsdale (ten minutes drive) for corporate team building, clay target shooting, walking, horse riding and other pursuits. Informal meals are served in the Pyman Bar for lunch or early evening and dinner or Sunday lunch in the hotel’s Terrace Suite or Oak Room restaurant which has an AA Rosette for food. Local produce with seafood dishes are a speciality and an interesting wine list complements your meal.
