The rule of "Silence after 10.30pm" is in keeping with the wonderful location of this family run site. Exceptional panoramic views of surrounding fells,the site looks down towards Derwent Water and in the distance Bassenthwaite Lake. Located at the foot of Walla Crag Castlerigg Farm is 25 min walk down through the woods to Keswick or 25 min walk across the fields to the Castlerigg Stone Circle.The site is in a particular beautiful and quiet part of the Lake District, away from the noise of towns and traffic, an ideal location for walking and relaxing. Run by the Harrison family since the early 1920s the site provides modern amenities which include power showers, heated washrooms, laundry room and shop. The "Hayloft Cafe" which opened in 2008 offers full English breakfast, lunches, packed lunches,takeaways and evening meals. Hook-up points are provided for caravans or motor homes and can be booked in advanced. Sorry, no reservations can be made for camping. A site for families, e.g. mum,dad, and children or couples on their own. Sorry, but due to our "10.30pm No Noise" rule we do not allow groups on site. We are on a private water supply. To help control water flow and to prevent misuse we charge 50p for showers, there is no charge for any other hot or cold water.
