Parish Church of St Peter and St Leonard Wakefield

Description of Parish Church of St Peter and St Leonard Wakefield

Built by the famous 18th century architect and son of Horbury, John Carr in 1794. In 1864 the Reverend Baring-Gould joined the parish and the following year wrote the famous hymn Onward Christian Soldiers so the children of the newly formed Horbury Bridge Mission could process around the town on their way to St Peter's.
