Burnhopeside Hall is a GradeII listed building of Historical interest having been the home of William Hedley Engineer. A working model of his Puffing Billy railway engine is at Beamish Museum (5 miles North). The original can be seen in the Science Museum in London. br / br / br / br / The Country House provides a beautiful setting for a peaceful & relaxing stay for business or holiday travellers.It is surrounded by 18 acres of gardens and woodland which merge with the Estate s farmland and woodland providing 475 acres of private areas for walking and cycling and 3/4 mile of river. br / br / br / br / The Farm rears outdoor free range pigs chickens ducks and geese. A Walled Garden built in 1893 provides produce for the house so that most of what is provided in the house is home grown or reared. The property is heated by biomass boilers using wood chip which within 12 months will be supplied from our own woodlands. The property is warm and comfortable throughout the year with traditional open log fires in all downstairs rooms. br / br / br / br / The four bedrooms are large and comfortable with super king double beds traditional furniture and modern en-suite bathrooms. A number of good hunting packs are within driving distance and on our doorstep. Directions to Burnhopeside Hall Durham

Durham City - Road: Please take the A691 towards Lanchester. You will pass straight on through a number of roundabouts. The last one has a turning for Langley Park but still staying on the main A691 road you are 3 miles away. Using mileage as your guide you will notice a parking lay- by on your left. Passing the lay- by start slowing down and look for a long hedge after 150 meters on the left. You will need to turn left into our long driveway. Take the entrance into the wood and drive down to the house. br/ br/ Newcastle upon Tyne & Gateshead - Road: Take the A167 from Newcastle through Low Fell to the Angel of the North Roundabout and join the A1(M) South towards Durham. At junction 63 take the slip road to Chester le Street passing under the motorway on the A167 towards Durham.After a series of roundabouts take a right turn for Nettlesworth on the B6312. Travel through Sacriston straight over at the traffic lights to Witton Gilbert. Turn right at the roundabout for Lanchester on the A691. After 2.7 miles our driveway is on the left. br/ br/ Durham - Train: Durham railway station is our nearest station.
