Stour Driftwork Manningtree has a collection of handmade art, crafts and gifts inspired by a tidal estuary and coastal living, using materials that have been unremittingly lifted and re-deposited by each returning tide. Impregnated with water, salt and sand, they were found half buried in the detrius of a tideline and subsequently rescued from their previous fate of tide and weather. Some bear remnants of paint long gone, or of hinges and nails suggesting a former history. Others have crooked or warped shapes but by placing one time ridden piece against another, original and unique pieces have been fashioned offering a new role for these abandoned remnants. Whether you are looking for a novel accessory, a contemporary addition to your home or an original gift, we hope you will enjoy browsing through our launch collection. Nothing shiny and new, just 'one-off' pieces using organic reclaimed and recovered materials but if you are unable to secure the piece of your choice, then similar but not identical pieces can be created on request. We also accept commissions, so if you have something more exclusive in mind, please contact us to discuss your requirements.
