Did you know that the word Pilsner comes from the city Plzen (Pilsen) in the Czech Republic? It is where the world’s first pilsner beer was brewed, Pilsner Urquell. Pilsner Urquell literally means ‘Original Source’ and set the standard for brewing the world over. Although the beer there today is brewed using modern technology, they also continue to brew using the old traditional techniques in order to ensure that the taste is exactly the same. It is this strong tradition of quality that we aim to bring to Pifko both in providing the finest lagers (of course Pilsner Urquell is among them!) and the best food to accompany them. Where we are. Pifko is located at 41-43 Ushers Quay, right on the River Liffey and just across the river from Smithfield.
