Trigony House Hotel started life as the Shooting Lodge for Closeburn Castle. Now home to the Moore family this fine Scottish hotel combines the welcoming ambience of the best country house hotels in Scotland with the comfort expected of a much loved family home. The hotel has established a reputation for excellent hospitality and fine cuisine that uses mainly local organic ingredients as well as providing guests with a relaxed atmosphere in which they can fully enjoy exploring this beautiful part of Scotland.The age of the house means that all 9 hotel rooms are all very different in size and layout all enjoying their own character. All rooms have hand sprung mattresses with fine Egyptian linen and are individually furnished. The larger of the hotel rooms have a small but comfortable seating area and the Garden suite has it's own conservatory. With comfort and relaxation in mind a butlers tray is supplied with homemade shortbread and real coffee while the toiletries are made especially for the hotel by the Caurnie Soaperie at the Organic Herb Garden in Kirkintilloch. Most of the rooms have views over the gardens and the Lowther hills to the east while others look over the Kier hills to the West. One room is at the rear of the property and looks over the woodland which covers a ruined Roman Fort. Rooms offer a good range of modern amenities including free Wi-Fi to ensure your stay is a relaxing one.Whether in the restaurant overlooking the gardens or in the cosy bar with its welcoming open fire Dining is always a pleasure at Trigony House Hotel. Directions from Glasgow: Take the M74. After roughly half an hour take the A702 south signposted to Thornhill and Drumlanrig Castle. When you reach the T junction leading onto the A76 turn left to Thornhill carry on through the village for 1 mile. Trigony House Hotel Dumfries is on the right hand side.Directions from EdinburghJourney time approx: 1.5 hoursTake the A702 south from Edinburgh(signposted Biggar and Carlisle) on to the A74 south bound.Carry on along the A74 for about 5 miles and then take the A702 south signposted Thornhill and Drumlanrig Castle.When you reach the T junction leading onto the A76 turn left to Thornhill carry on through the village for 1 mile.Trigony House Hotel Dumfries is on the right hand side.Directions from Carlisle Take the M6 North to the town of Gretna Green.Here turn lef on the A75 toward Dumfries Stranraer.At the town of Dumfries take the A76 Kilmarnock.12 miles North of Dumfries the Trigony House Hotel Dumfries is on the left hand side of the road in between the villages of Closeburn and Thornhill.
