Lakeside Country Guest House is an elegant property ideally situated in front of Bassenthwaite Lake yet just a few minutes drive into the tourist town of Keswick and Cockermouth (the birth place of William Wordsworth.)The property offers 8 individual rooms (7 en-suite 1 with private bathroom) The 2 superior rooms are so called as they are more spacious and offer glorious views towards Skiddaw mountain range and Bassenthwaite Lake. They also have 32 flat sceen TV fluffy bath robes and the use of Gilchrist and Soames toiletries.Sharon and Arnold have 15 years Guest House experience and have lived here with their son Jordan for 8 years.They personally over see everything from the friendly welcome (with complimentary tea tray and home made cake or biscuits) to the delicious breakfasts using fresh local produce and prepared by Arnold who is a trained 5 star chef and formerly of Sharrow Bay where he was once asigned to cook for Barbara Streisand!.Lakeside has just been awarded The Breakfast Award to reflect the standards and choice offered at breakfast following a recent visit from the Hotel Inspector and maintains its 4 Stars and additional Silver award for customer care and comfort.Once inside you will notice the care and attention that has been taken in harmonizing the original features (oak floors panelling and stained glass windows) with the comforts of modern day living.In the resident's lounge you can relax with a good book or magazine from the selection offered or play chess or scrabble Watch TV make use of the free Wi FI or just relax and take in the views.Wine glasses are provided in the rooms and you are welcome to bring your own tipple of choice as Lakeside is not licensed.Outside there is a furnished terrace where you can also relax (weather permitting) and for bird watchers you can look for Osprey between April and August. or wander over to the Silver Meadows bird watching site.Lakeside does not offer evening meals as there is a variety of places to try within a 5 minute drive drive and a lovely rosette awarded Country Inn and Bistro within walking distance.There is private parking for Guests. Exit M6 at J40.take A66 towards Keswick. Bypass Keswick and follow dual carriageway direction Cockermouth.Bassenthwaite Lake on right.Road very bendy. Leave dual carriageway. Onto main road travel only 250 yards. Turn right (signposted Castle Inn and Dubwath.)Keep right into lane and Lakeside is 250 yards on left set back from road.
