The M6 motorway together with the A66 trunk road from the motorway to the west coast makes road communication very easy. An excellent main line service is available from nearby Workington to Carlisle the cathedral city 25 miles away and there are regular connecting bus services to most parts of Cumbria and the Lake District. The town boasts a castle and two rivers - the Cocker (from which the town derives its name) and the Derwent both ideal for salmon and trout fishing. Directions to Allerdale Court Hotel Cockermouth

FROM THE M6: Exit M6 at J40 onto the A66 direction of Keswick Cockermouth Workington. At Cockermouth take the third exit on the roundabout onto Lamplugh Road (A5086). Continue onto Gallowbarrow (A5086) and through onto Sullart St (A5086). At the junction turn right onto Market Street. Cross the river and then take your first right. The hotel is on the left hand side of the road.
